From Kununurra our journey leads us to the Devil‘s Marbles at Wauchope. But let us tell the story ordinary, one step after the other. The way we have to drive is 1‘339 km – let‘s see what going on 😉
We start at Kununurra and we drive to Timber Creek Roadhouse, Northen Territory. On the way to the Roadhouse as also in front of the Roadhouse we see lots of Roadtrains. These big vehicles, with sometimes very impressive loads, are always great to get pictures.
At Timber Creek close to the caravan park, there is a small river part of the Victoria River where some fresh water crocodiles live. It is possible to watch them easily. Freshies (as fresh water corcodiles are called) are not dangerous for human, they are normaly shy and with their small snout, they can‘t harm us really hard. The salties (salt water crocodiles) are the pure opposite. They are dangerouse at any time for human. They are to fast for us, in the water as also on land, they can reach a pace of approx. 30 km/h. (only for short distances). But nevertheless also the freshies are wild animals and should always been treated like this.
First we cross Katherine NT but the second time when we will be back at Katherine, we will have more information about it.
Next Roadhouse which we go to have a stopp is the Daly Water Roadhouse. Its a famous one and the Aussies recommends to go there and have a look even better to stay a eveing for the great beef and barramundi grill buffet (BBQ) and the live music. Its located some kilometers away of the Stuart Highway on a quite spot in the Outback.
Renner Springs Roadhouse follows. There is as nearly as always at the roadhouses a caranvan parks and a lot of people. This place is quite busy and the cabins are nearly all fully booked. Roadtrains are at this spot too.
And the next one follows shortly 😉 After only 135 km we come to the Threeways Roadhouse. An excellent roadhouse, where we have an delicious breakfast. Even for an overnight this would be perfect.
After 2 nights we finally reached the Devil‘s Marbles, but for this theme we will make a separat blog info.
