Kununurra its self has plenty of attractions. Thanks we made our sightseeing flight over Kununurra, Lake Argyle and even over Purnuluru-National-Parc, in which the famouse Bungle Bungles are, we stored a lot of time and for that we may enjoy the local attractions of Kununurra. Our start is at the Sandalwood Facotry, where we get plenty of information about the sandalwood growing, harvesting and its processing. The sandalwood is very worthwhile, per kilo AU$ 150-250 will be payed. The wood is also used to make furniture but the most important use is to distill the oil. Fragrances and treatments products and medicin is also the use of the sandalwood.
Just down the road the next stopp is at „Hoochery Distillery“, an award winning and excellent rum distillery and one of kind. It is absoluty worth it to visit this distillery, the rums are extraordinary (you may ordert tasters a 10ml) and the building as also the restaurant are charming.
Next really nice and beautyful juwel of Kununurra is the „Pumphouse Restaurant“. The old pumphouse is being reused as a restaurant, all the features and construction is been left and the restaurant is build in this atmosphere. You may enjoy good food, wein and they own beer.
„Kellys Knob“ is a perfect spot to see the sunrise and/or sunset and to get some nice pictures up there. Whos does not directly overnight at the waterfront of Lake Kununurra for overnighting, should really once go to the Lake Kununurra and stay for at least a sunset.
As usual here you find some pictures:
