Our intention to go slowly back south has been changed due to the weather. At Port Augusta the temperature is around32¤ Celsius but it’s cooling down and there is also a strong wind. That’s the indicator for us to change our plans and go back to the warm outback.
Port Augusta is the crossing for all who wants to go North to South or Est to West in Australia. So everyone has to go through Port Augusta (or any combination of N-S-O-W). It’s also a Harbour City and a Railway line point, so the trains passing through.
At the Railway station there is a lovely cafe “Mama Lou’s”. This station shows the information about the “Pichi Richi Steam Train” and it’s journeys, which may be joined nearly every weekend. Surely here also passes the trains and freight trains through
Next place we stay is Peterborough, an Steam Train City with its historical museum and with a running station in the town. The Southern Pacific Railway passes through from Adelaide to Sydney and back. There is also the “229 on Main Cafe” which is absoluty lovely and fantastic and it is accomodated in the former “Theater”. The owner looks to treat it like a living museum. Absoluty amazing and it’s a must to have had a coffee here.
