As mostly all days, we do have sunny and warm weather (35° Celcisus) and all the 4WD roads at Wilpena are open. So we decided to drive through the Brachina Gorge up to Parachilna.
The Brachina Gorge is fascinating and does shows amazing gelogical history up to 650 million years and all that may be driven through an almost dry river.
Further up we get to Parachilna. This spot does have a Hotel with a Bar. So somewhere in the middle of nowhere you find a awesome place to stay. The Prairie Hotel, Parachilna, is owend and run by the Fargher Family, which also do run a farm nearby. The Family also make its own beer called the Fargher lager – it’s a real good lager. The Prairie Hotel is a must to have a beer or to stay in.
At the moment our plans are a bit disordered. We planed to go over the Strzelekitrack to the Birdsvilletrack, but those tracks are still closed. Some weeks ago, the middle and south part of Australia was hit by an amazing huge rain over days, that never has been measured until to this year. So the Outback is mostly green and red, what’s spectaular and unique but it also lead to closed 4WD roads over a long time. The road conditions may be checked any time on the goverment website.
