The Route 66 crosses 8 states of the US (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois – West to East view) and so we reach the third state on the Route 66 and the fifth of our trip. For us Utah and Nevada is also to count with and that’s coming from our side trips to Las Vegas NV and Monument Valley UT.
Albuquerque is a big city and with its suburbs “Las Lunas” very Mexican. The city is open minded and the people which are living here are from different parts of the world.
From here, the Old Route 66 goes to Santa Fe. Santa Fe is the oldest city in the United States and the city center is decked up. Even the oldest house of the United States is here located, this is already over 800 years old and was built by the Native Americans.
Next part of the Route 66 brings us to Las Vegas in New Mexico. This place is also a big city now but the old center is small and cute,
We enjoy the tranquility in Las Vegas and we do have a break in the “Plaza Hotel” next to the city park. It is a little gem this city center and its hotel from the nineteenth century.
